Southern Resident Killer Whale Baby Boom

In the last several months we have been fortunate to have so many new babies! The Center for Whale Research has confirmed that have been 9 new calves born since December 2014.  The newest calf, J55, was just seen January 18, 2016. Unfortunately on the same day J31 was observed with a deceased new calf. Of the 9 new calves born only one is confirmed as female and four are confirmed males, which may be due to contaminants in the water called persistent organic pollutants.  read more about this here.
