We are the only Whale Watching Company on Orcas Island, WA to offer a guarantee of encountering whales. We are so confident that we will find you whales that if you don’t see a whale you can come again for free. The guarantee applies to scheduled tours that occur between June 10th and September 10th.

If you do not encounter whales on the tour we will issue you a voucher to come again and ride for free. The voucher never expires and it is valid for use by the original recipient only. The voucher entitles the recipient to standby loading for any scheduled whale watch tour. You must register your intent of use with our office.

Join one of our Whale and Wildlife tours departing from Smuggler’s Villa Resort near Eastsound on Orcas Island. Come out and see orca whales, gray whales, humpback whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions, otters, bald eagles and much more. Our boats are faster and have a much longer range than any other tour boats in the region.

We find Orca whales far more often than any other company in the San Juans or Bellingham. We’ll head deep into Canadian water – even past Victoria or Vancouver to find Orca. We can travel over 50 miles each way, 100 miles round trip if it means seeing Orca.

The Islander Resort - 2864 Fisherman Bay Rd, Lopez Island, WA 98261, USA

We offer daily scheduled Whale Watching Tours from the Islanders Resort, Lopez Island, WA. We head out from May to September in search of Orcas Whales, Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, and Gray Whales. We spot whales on over 95% of our trips. The best sightings for Orca are in June, July, August and September. Humpbacks and minkes are possible spring, summer, and fall and Grays are possible in the spring and fall. We also frequently encounter sea lions, seals, porpoise, eagles, otters and sea birds. Our boats are the fastest whale watching boats leaving from the mainland and we can accomplish more in 3 or 4 hours than what the big slow boats can do in 6 to 7 hours. We see whales more often than the big boats and once we find the whale we can get closer to them and stay longer. You will get plenty of one on one attention from the captain and our trained naturalists because there is never more than 30 people aboard our boats. Our primary vessel is the Blackfish II, custom built for whale and wildlife viewing with a heated cabin, top deck, and full restrooms. Our boats are also equipped with hydrophones so we can listen to the whales after we find them. Most tours last between 3 to 4 hours. Combination Whale Watch and Fishing Trips are available for your private group. Hourly rates apply; see the private charter section below or call for details.

Our Headquarters and offices are at the marina at Smugglers Villa Resort. From Sucia Drive look for a metal gate with a big sign painted like an Orca Whale. Our regularly scheduled whale watching and kayaking tours meet at our office in the Whale Watch Parking Lot in the marina. Look for the red building and check in at the kiosk.
