Whale Guarantees are temporarily suspended due to the closure of the Canadian border. Though we still see whales on a vast majority of our tours, the limitation these border restrictions place on our tours prevent us from our normal routes and force us to temporarily alter this policy.

We are proud of our guarantee and will restore it as soon as the borders reopen. Thank you for your understanding.

Join one of our Whale and Wildlife tours departing from the beach directly in front of the Willows Inn on Lummi Island. Come out and see orca whales, gray whales, humpback whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions, otters, bald eagles and much more. Our boats are faster and have a much longer range than any other tour boats in the region.

We find Orca whales far more often than any other company in the San Juans or Bellingham. We’ll head deep into Canadian water – even past Victoria or Vancouver to find Orca. We can travel over 50 miles each way, 100 miles round trip if it means seeing Orca.

Because this is a beach landing we recommend shoes that can get a little wet or sandy.

The Willows - 2579 W Shore Dr, Lummi Island, WA 98262, USA

We offer daily scheduled Whale Watching Tours from The Willows Inn, Lummi Island, WA. We head out from April to October in search of Orcas Whales, Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, and Gray Whales. We spot whales on over 95% of our trips. The best sighting for Orca are in June, July, August and September and the best sighting for Humpback Whales are in April and May. Humpbacks are also seen in September and October. We also frequently encounter sea lions, seals, porpoise, eagles, otters and sea birds. Our boats are the fastest whale watching boats leaving from the mainland and we can accomplish more in 3 or 4 hours than what the big slow boats can do in 6 to 7 hours. We see whales more often than the big boats and once we find the whales we can stay longer. You will get plenty of one on one attention from the captain and our trained naturalists because there is never more than 26 people aboard our boats. All our primary vessel the Blackfish II is custom built for whale and wildlife viewing with a heated cabin, top deck, and full restroom. Our boats are also equipped with hydrophones so we can listen to the whales after we find them with most tours last between 4 to 5 hours. Combination Whale Watch and Fishing Trips are available for your private group. Hourly rates apply; see the charter fishing section or call for details.

Our Headquarters and offices are at the marina at Smugglers Villa Resort. Pickups from Willows will happen on the beach directly in front of the Willows Inn.  Please wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet.

  • The state of Washington currently requires the use of face masks and/or other facial coverings in public, both indoors and outdoors, for anyone age 5 and older.  Face coverings must completely cover both mouth and nose. The only time they may be removed is if you are eating or drinking while seated at least 6 feet from others. We are required by law to enforce this requirement to operate tours.
