A Tale of Two Brothers

T128 "Flotsam," born 1988 & T125A "Jetsam," born 1998 cruise through Rosario Brothers from a different mother? Nope! Just mislabeled. They are both the offspring of T125. These two are known as "exotics" here in the Salish Sea, as most of their time is usually spent way north, up in Alaska. Their visits here are rare and exciting for us. Our sighting of these two this week was extremely special, as we haven't seen them in quite some time.

These two are named after the eels in Disney's The Little Mermaid. They are fun-loving, practical-joker type males, known to sneak up on boaters and surprise them, and have even been known to mug boats! They once spent about a stealthy month playing in and around Discovery Bay near Port Townsend without many people noticing. These two are almost always together.

Killer whales are extremely family oriented, and these two continue to enjoy a bachelor's life of brotherly love. Let's hear it for the boys!

T125A "Jetsam" has a very large and distinct dorsal nick

T128 "Flotsam's" markings are a little more subtle, but also recognizable
