With the sun shining on a calm sea we set out in search of wildlife. While searching for whales that where spotted by another vessel next to Lummi Island around 9 am we found the same Orcas some 20+ miles away next to the Anacortes ferry landing at 12pm.they continued to head south and when we left them the orcas had gone around 5 or 10 miles.
In the afternoon Liberty and Phil encountered a separate pod that was feeding on a harbor porpoise. Yes, sometimes they will play with their food. Each porpoise weighs about 300 pounds and make a nice dinner for the whole pod. We feel blessed to be able to share this worl with such an incredible animal!
