We had a gorgeous fall day on the water today! And, bonus points for Captain Jim for keeping us out of the rain all day! We headed off on our journey today toward the south to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We crossed into Canadian waters where we found two Bigg's killer whales, the brothers T60D and T60 E. They were headed to the east as they surfaced together. They maintained rhythmic breathing, giving us some great looks as they cruised. Eventually, we had to leave and search more water for other animals. Captain Jim took us to the east where we encountered our second species of whale! It was a humpback whale who was swimming to the northwest. It turned out to be one of our frequent visitors, BCZ0432 "Two Spot". Two Spot spent a lot of time at the surface, giving us some fantastic looks. We even got a couple of surprise "whiffs" of whale breath! Quite the experience for our noses! We cruised back toward the north and stopped by Whale Rocks and spent some time enjoying our Steller sea lion friends. We had a great trip out on the water today!
Photos to come!
