Rare Behaviors

We had the amazing luck to stumble across a male traveling alone through the islands today. It appeared to be T65A3, known for his frequent bouts of traveling separately from his pod. He didn't travel far, and he was moving slowly, and he was milling and zig-zagging randomly, as if he was waiting for his pod to show up. After quite some time of no clear direction he finally took off north.

T65A3 wandering somewhat aimlessly

We heard about an approaching pod on the north side of Saturna Island, just about the same time he did; he dove and took off and we bolted as well! We found the T123's up there, and it wasn't long until T65A3 joined them.

Interestingly enough, there was some kind of confrontation as they all dove, facing one another. Then, T65A3 began porpoising away at high speed, heading north! The T123's continued to drive him away with force, then resumed their prior route east. Though related and part of the same community, it's not always "cool" for a lone male to barge right in. Lessons were learned!
