Sometimes these seasonal visitors impress us with acrobatic displays and today was no exception!
A humpback whale breaches near Saturna Island, Canada
Whales breach for a multitude of reasons including (but not limited to) play, communication to others of their species via the sound of the splash, and dislodging irritating parasites such as whale lice. Either way, it is always spectacular to witness!
The adventure continued and we found Big Mama and her calf near Stuart Island, and even caught a glimpse of a lone male Transient orca near Turnpoint Lighthouse. Such an amazing day!
