The Many Creatures of the Salish Sea

Writer: Kaylee HubenKaylee Huben

Often on whale watching trips we see more than just whales! This morning, in addition to a beautiful family of Transient Orcas we saw all sorts of wildlife and geological features.

We had the pleasure of observing Harbor Seals, Harbor Porpoise, Stellar Sea Lions, and Bald Eagles all in one trip! What’s so special about the San Juan Islands is that every time we hit the water, we’re sure to see lots of interesting and unique species.

We also got to see some of the fascinating geological features that make up the Salish Sea. We saw evidence of what this land used to look like millions of years ago, before the last ice age carved out all of these islands.

Its always a great day when we get to go out on the water and spend time with wildlife.
